Food Donors
Becoming a Food Donor is simple, consistent, and designed to fit easily into your routine. Here’s how it works:
1. Your Neighborhood Coordinator brings you a green bag.
Once you’re part of the project, your local NC will stop by to introduce themselves and drop off your reusable green donation bag.
2. Fill your bag over time.
Add a few nonperishable items each time you shop. You don’t need to fill it all at once, just little by little between pickups.
3. Leave your bag out on Pickup Day.
On the third Saturday of every odd month, place your filled bag outside by 9:00 AM.
Your NC will pick it up and leave you a clean bag for the next cycle.
(Some NCs make small timing adjustments—feel free to check with yours.)
Small Habit = Huge Impact
Every time you fill a green bag, you’re helping feed a neighbor right here in Georgetown. Most Food Donors fill a bag with about 12 pounds of food, and because pickups happen every other month, the average donor contributes around 70–75 pounds of food each year.
And the best part?
You’re making that impact with almost zero time commitment. Just fill the bag at your own pace and leave it on your porch on Pickup Day.
Your donations help:
-
Keep shelves stocked at local pantries during high-demand seasons
-
Provide reliable, predictable food for Georgetown families
-
Strengthen neighborhood connections and build community
